Ingredients:
6 boneless chicken breast halves
1 can cheddar cheese soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup milk
2 teaspoons garlic powder
a bit of Mrs. Dash
1 Tablespoon curry
small bag of California Blend veggies

Directions:

Spray the crockpot with non-stick spray. Add the chicken. In a medium sized bowl add all the ingredients except the veggies and stir until one solid color. Pour mixture over chicken. Cook on high in the crockpot for three hours. Add veggies. Cook on high for 30 minutes. Serve over rice. Salt and pepper to taste.

This recipe was a success with our picky eaters for the most part. Korbin insisted on having rice on one part of his plate and the chicken and sauce on another so he didn't really get the full effect. He can be hard to cook for because unless it is Nutella or Tacos, he eats very little.

We had one problem with making this recipe. Becca turned on the crockpot on high and set the timer, but forgot to plug in the crockpot so the first 30 minutes or so we thought it was cooking it wasn't. I guess we have to add plugging in the crockpot to our list of directions so we don't forget it again and have to start the timer over again.

As always, we hope you try the recipe and let us know what you think. This recipe would easily lend itself to leftover or perhaps even freezer cooking. Maybe decrease the chicken to three pieces and cut all othe ingredients by half and put in a gallon freezer bag (minus the veggies)

Here's a recipe that we tried for the first time today. Almost everyone liked it except one of my sons. Everyone else thought it was very good and the other two kids even requested that we add it to our menu either bi-weekly or once a month.

Ingredients:
--2 T olive oil or enough to cover the bottom of the crockpot
--5 chicken breasts
--12 pieces cooked and crumbled  bacon
--1/4 cup teriyaki sauce (We used Tastefully Simple Honey Teriyaki sauce)
--1/2 cup Ranch salad dressing
-- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

First cook and crumble the bacon. Then pour the olive oil into the crockpot and make sure to coat the entire bottom. Add the chicken breasts. We used frozen chicken breasts. Next, in a small bowl add the teriyaki sauce and the ranch dressing and stir until it becomes one solid color. Pour the sauce mixture onto the chicken. Cover the chicken and sauce mixture with the cheese. On top, add the crumbled bacon. Cook on high for 3 hours.

Try making this recipe and I'm sure you'll like it. It has a very unique taste. Please try it and comment on here what you thought of it.

Here's a healthy family favorite that we make every once in a while that everyone just loves. Pulled Pork. We make it in a crockpot and cook it on high for 4 hours.

Ingredients:
        1 can tomato sauce
        1/2 cup ketchup
2 Tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons brown sugar
2 Tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
         2 teaspoons garlic powder
                                                                                    1 package pork tenderloin
                                                                                    1 pork shoulder roast

Stir all the ingredients together except the meat in the crockpot. Trim fat off the meat. Put meat in the crockpot and spoon the mixture on top of the meat. Cook for 4 hours on high. Remove meat from crockpot and place in a bowl. Shred the meat using two forks and return meat to crockpot. Stir meat and mixture together (meat will soak up most or all of the liquid). Serve on buns.

This makes enough for my whole family to have two sandwiches and then still have leftovers for the next couple days or we can freeze the leftovers to make another meal later in the month, which makes for an easy afterwork meal if you take it out of the freezer before you go to work and just heat it up when you get home.

Welcome to The Picky Kitchen.

This blog is dedicated to families like ours, where most of the family consists of picky eaters. We generally try to do recipes that stay away from mushrooms and peppers and stick with common spices that can be found anywhere in the country. We know first hand how hard it can be for a family of picky eaters to find recipes that suit their family. Cookbooks tend to have lots of recipes in them that my family just won't try because of one ingredient or another. We can't be the only family out there facing this dilema so we hope that you enjoy this site.

So on this site we will share recipes that have been successful with our family including a feature that we will try to do once a week where we come up with recipes that we make in the crockpot. We'll try to get some recipes made in the crockpot that most people don't associate with crockpot cooking as well as some trusty favorites. We'll also try to video as many of these recipes as we can.
